Muswellbrook farewells respected orthodontic specialist Dr Russell Kift

SHARE

Muswellbrook’s loss is Maitland’s and Cessnock’s gain.

In light of redevelopment plans for the Brook Street precinct, highly-regarded specialist orthodontist Dr Russell Kift has made the difficult decision to close his Upper Hunter surgery, after almost 28 years of service to the local community.

It’s a massive blow for residents, who have valued his expertise for more than two decades.

Following advice from Muswellbrook Shire Council regarding their proposal – and ultimate demolition and reconstruction – of the Brook Street sector, Dr Kift was notified that he and his team would need to vacate the building housing their surgery.

Unfortunately, the search for a suitable alternative space was unsuccessful.

And, with a great deal of sadness, Dr Kift will terminate his Muswellbrook practice, effective 3 March 2022.

Well-respected throughout the Hunter Valley, he’ll continue to offer specialist orthodontic services from his surgeries in Maitland and Cessnock.

“It’s disappointing after so many years in the area,” Dr Kift said.

“But, our commitment to our patients remains.

“We will ensure we have the capacity to service our existing Upper Hunter-based patients at our Maitland and Cessnock surgeries.

“At the end of the day, our patients are our priority.”

Those with current and existing appointments booked in at Muswellbrook through December, January, February and March are recommended to keep – and attend.

“I’ve made a promise to continue the provision of an excellent standard of care and to build upon the relationships I have already built throughout the Hunter Valley,” Dr Kift said.

“That won’t change.”

The Brook Street precinct demolition and construction works are planned to start in April 2022.
