Fern Bay woman’s Keno tradition with mum delivers $54,000 win
A Fern Bay woman has won more than $54,000 after a regular Keno outing with her mother delivered the biggest win of her life.
The Port Stephens resident secured the Keno Classic 8 Spot jackpot in draw 600 on Thursday 30 July, taking home $54,777.90.
The winning entry was purchased at Club Stockton on Douglas Street.
The woman said she often played Keno while having lunch or dinner with her mother and initially struggled to believe what she was seeing as her numbers appeared.
“Happy, happy days. I’m still riding the high of it all. It’s my biggest win ever,” she said.
“I saw all the numbers come up and I was looking at them, looking at my ticket and then looking back at them. I was in shock.”
She said she had to wait until the games had finished before checking the ticket and confirming the result.
The excitement quickly spread, with the winner calling friends who then joined her at the club.
“I even called my besties and they came running down to the club to bask in the joy,” she said.
When asked how she planned to use the prize, the woman said her first thought was to share the experience with her mother.
“I’d love to take mum on a little holiday,” she said.
“Other than that, I’ll have a good think about it all and let the reality of it sink in.”
Keno draws take place approximately every three minutes, with players selecting numbers in the hope of matching those drawn.
In 2025, players across NSW and the ACT recorded more than 39 million Keno wins worth more than $635 million.
