Movie magic heads to Cessnock

SHARE

Performance Arts Culture Cessnock (PACC) is turning its theatre into the go-to spot for big screen fun all year round.

PACC will roll out a new Cinema Club program for 2026, bringing not just a couple of holiday films, but regular programs to the Cessnock community.

With no other local cinema currently operating, this initiative responds directly to the demand for affordable and accessible close-to-home movie experiences for all ages.

Kicking off in the summer school holidays, Cinema Club will launch the animated favourite Happy Feet, a tale of a cute and fussy dancing emperor penguin, on Thursday 22 January from 10am.

PACC Cinema Club will launch with the animated favourite Happy Feet.

The audience can expect roughly one film a month throughout the year with movies including family flicks, weekday morning sessions and special events, such as Valentine and Halloween specials along with festive Christmas-themed evenings.

Local parent Michael believes it’s a win for families.

“Having family films during the school holidays is such a great idea,” he said.

“It means we don’t have to travel for a simple, affordable day out with the kids, and they get really excited.”

The PACC team says the program is all about community connection and creating local experiences.

The aim’s to make the most of a great auditorium space that is accessible and low cost, offering something for everyone.

“This is something the community has been asking for,” said the PACC team.

“Cinema Club is a way to bring people together, enjoy films locally and make use of the great facilities we already have.”

So, whether you are after a family outing or midweek pick me up, PACC’s Cinema Club promises plenty of movie moments worth watching.
