Motorists advised of changed traffic conditions throughout Hunter

SHARE

The inclement weather might still have a say in proceedings, but Transport for NSW (TfNSW) has scheduled more roadworks throughout the Hunter this week.

Motorists are being advised of changed overnight traffic conditions on Cumberland and Lindesay streets, between the Melbourne Street roundabout and Rolleston Street, at East Maitland for essential maintenance.

Maitland City Council is carrying out the work on behalf of TfNSW, which involves resurfacing the road.

It will take place from 7pm to 5am from Tuesday 9 April to Thursday 11 April and is expected to be completed in three nights.

“A section of Cumberland Street and Lindesay Street will be temporarily closed to light vehicles during work hours,” a TfNSW spokesperson said.

“They’ll be detoured via John Street, King Street, Lindesay Street and Rolleston Street, which is expected to add around two minutes travel time.

“During the work, access for emergency services, heavy vehicles and buses will be maintained.

“However, a reduced 40 km/h speed limit will also be in place.”

Meanwhile, construction work is continuing on the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace, the Black Hill to Tomago project.

It will require lane closures and temporary speed reductions at the following locations and times:

  • Pacific Highway southbound intermittent speed reduction (vehicle escorts) northbound and southbound lane closure north of Tomago Road, from 7pm Monday 8 April to 5am Tuesday 9 April
  • Lenaghans Drive alternating northbound and southbound lane and shoulder closure from 7am to 5pm from Monday 8 April to Thursday 11 April and 7pm Thursday 11 to 5am Friday 12 April
  • New England Highway off-ramp to John Renshaw Drive westbound lane closure from 7pm Tuesday 9 April to 5am Wednesday 10 April
  • M1 Pacific Motorway northbound and southbound lane closure from 7pm to 5am on the nights of Monday 8 April to Thursday 11 April
  • New England Highway eastbound lane and Tarro off-ramp closure with speed reduction from 7pm to 5am on the nights of Tuesday 9 April and Wednesday 10 April

“We’re encouraging motorists to allow extra travel time and follow the directions of signs and traffic controllers,” the spokesperson said.

“We thank everyone for their patience.”
