A motorcycle rider has died following a crash on a Hunter Valley fire trail.

Emergency services were called to a trail in the Putty State Forest at around 1pm on Thursday, following reports that a motorcycle had crashed on the track.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service attended and found the rider, a 67-year-old man had died at the scene.

Hunter Valley Police District officers established a crime scene in the Putty State Forest, an launched an investigation into the nature of the crash.

A report has been prepared for the information of the NSW Coroner.

It comes after a horror weekend for motorcyclists, earlier this month, with two fatalities across the Hunter in the space of handful of hours.

One rider was killed in Newcastle on Saturday 11 July, while another lost his life near Kurri Kurri later that afternoon.

Emergency services were called to Clyde Street, Hamilton North, about 7.15am on 11 July.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District found a motorcycle had crashed into a fence.

Sadly, the rider, a 55-year-old man, died at the scene.

Then, about 2.45pm, emergency services responded to a crash on Leggetts Drive, Pelaw Main.

On arrival, officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District discovered a car and a bike had collided.

The rider, a man aged 58, was treated at the scene by first responders and NSW Ambulance Paramedics.

Tragically, he could not be revived.

The 72-year-old female driver of the vehicle, a Mitsubishi Mirage, was taken to John Hunter Hospital for mandatory testing.
