SHARE

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner after a motorcyclist died following a crash in the Hunter on Friday afternoon.

About 1.30pm on 19 November, emergency services were called to Mirrabooka, about 9km east of Morisset.

Police believe the motorcycle was travelling along Dandaraga Road before it struck a caravan that was parked in the driveway of a home.

The rider, who died at the scene, is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged 31.

Officers from Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and started an investigation into the crash.

Anyone with information about this incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au

The fatality comes after numerous motorcycle accidents in the Hunter over the past fortnight.

Within the space of 10 days, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked to more than half a dozen crashes, at locations such as Singleton, Paterson, Stockrington and Laguna.

All riders were eventually transported to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.

Another occurred at a rural property at Omadale, north-east of Scone, about 11am on Friday 19 November.

It was reported a 53-year-old man had fallen heavily from his bike and received serious injuries.

Local NSW Ambulance paramedics and emergency services attended the scene, tending to the male prior to the arrival of the WRHS’s Critical Care Medical Team.

He was treated for leg, pelvic and abdominal injuries before being stabilised and flown direct to Newcastle in a serious but stable condition.
