In tragic circumstances, a motorcyclist has died following a two-vehicle crash at Kurri Kurri on Tuesday afternoon.
About 12.55pm on 7 March, emergency services were called to the corner of Stanford and Deakin streets.
Early reports revealed a collision occurred between a motorcycle and an SUV.
But, despite the best efforts of NSW Ambulance paramedics, the male rider, believed to be aged in his 40s, died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified.
The 27-year-old male driver of the SUV was taken to John Hunter Hospital for treatment, as well as mandatory testing.
Students at the nearby Kurri Kurri High School, who might have witnessed the incident, will be offered counselling, too.
Meanwhile, officers from Hunter Valley Police District established a crime scene, which is now being examined by specialist police.
