More traffic changes on Newcastle Inner City Bypass at Jesmond

Hunter motorists are set to be further inconvenienced, with essential maintenance work taking place on the Newcastle Inner City Bypass this week.

Transport for NSW crews will trim the lower branches of trees located southbound on the multi-million-dollar project underneath the University Drive overpass at Jesmond, as well as Thomas Street, between Raglan and Irving streets, at Wallsend.

To minimise the impact, work is taking place overnight from 7pm to 5am on Wednesday 25 October.

A shoulder single lane closure, southbound at both locations and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h, will be operational for the safety of workers and motorists.

“People are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.

“We thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
