Two more teens have been charged after a man was left seriously-injured following a recent assault on a bus in Lake Macquarie.
Emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, Belmont, about noon on Sunday 3 May.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District and Police Transport Command received information a group of people entered the vehicle, before an argument ensued with a 49-year-old male.
As the youngsters were alighting the bus, it’s alleged they repeatedly assaulted the man, knocking him unconscious.
He was then treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for head and facial injuries before being taken to John Hunter Hospital for further treatment.
He’s since been released.
A short time later, nine youths were located and arrested at a fast food restaurant in Belmont.
Following inquiries, seven were released pending further investigation.
Two boys – aged 16 – were indicted and remain before the courts.
Now, another couple of teenagers, both 16, have been arrested at Toronto and Belmont Police stations respectively.
Each was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm in company.
They are due to reappear separately before a Children’s Court on Monday 18 May and Monday 15 June.
A 12-year-old boy was also dealt with under the Young Offenders Act.
Investigations are ongoing.
