SHARE

More than 500 miners from across the state will attend the 2022 NSW Minerals Council Health, Safety, Environment and Community Conference (HSEC) in the Hunter region from today.

The important event boasts special significance this year as it’s the first time since 2019 that members and supply businesses from throughout the industry have been able to meet after several COVID-related postponements.

Themed HSEC360: Reconnected, the 2022 conference features a range of speakers focusing on breakthroughs in workplace health and safety, community relations and environmental management.

Award winners will also be named in four categories, recognising excellence and innovation across the sector.

“After several interruptions due to the pandemic, it’s fantastic to once again be able to welcome 500 miners to our flagship event,” NSW Minerals Council CEO Stephen Galilee said.

“It brings us together from across NSW to discuss our challenges, identify opportunities, celebrate excellence and focus on how we can continue to improve in the future.

“A highlight of the conference will be our NSW Mining Health, Safety, Environment & Community Awards, showcasing the best innovations from throughout the industry in NSW.

“Each of the nine finalists have been chosen for their breakthroughs and achievement in ‘workers health’, ‘mine safety’, ‘environmental sustainability’ and ‘community engagement’.
