Metricon’s Studio M in Newcastle has taken out top honours at the 2023 HIA-CSR Hunter Housing and Kitchen & Bathroom Awards.

The Hamilton address was awarded Excellence in Showroom at the annual ceremony on the Central Coast on Saturday 21 October.

Judged by industry professionals, the event celebrates the best of the region’s residential building industry, acknowledging the talent of designers, builders, contractors, suppliers and manufacturers who plan and construct quality new homes, townhouses, renovations, kitchens, bathrooms and outdoor projects.

Studio M was selected as the winner in an awards night that recognised 33 separate categories.

The purpose-built selections studio represents an investment of more than $5 million to support the company’s Newcastle customers.

It also embodies significant growth being undertaken in the region.

The facility underwent an extensive build program with Cunsolo Architects, who worked closely with Metricon to develop a contemporary and interactive showroom designed to help customers with their interior and exterior selections.

The state-of-the-art, purpose-built space spans over 1000m2 and brings the next level in design, style customer inspiration and innovation to Newcastle.

Located on Donald Street, the innovative Studio M is designed to be interactive for visitors, while showing a wide range of possibilities and examples of interior and exterior products and allowing customers to get a taste of what to expect in their own homes.

Metricon general manager NSW David Shorten says the award cements the brand’s reputation in the former steel city.

“We are incredibly proud of our Studio M in Newcastle and what we have built as a business here,” he said.

“The studio has so much to offer our customers, and we are excited to see it recognised by the HIA in the Hunter.

“With an abundance of variety with our supplier’s products on offer all under the one roof, we wanted to make sure our customers have the opportunity to feel, see and touch products in a way that brings them to life.

“Our aim was always to make this space more than just a showroom, but for it be a true design and style inspiration hub and this award is great recognition of that.

“Our Studio M experience has been designed to be immersive and truly memorable to visitors.” – David Shorten

“Having such a wonderful space to share our insights and providing our customers with the right environment to make their selections is something that we recognised as a huge opportunity.

“We are very excited for what the future holds as we continue to open stunning new display homes and further invest in the region.

“This award win is a celebration of our great local trades and supplier’s dedication to delivering the best home-building process to our customers through the selections experience.

“Our customers often find this one of the most exciting phases of the home-building process, and we love sharing this part of the journey with them.

“Our Studio M design in Newcastle is a break-through and now award-winning design space, that has set new standards for the volume building design experience.”
