Medowie has been crowned home to Australia’s best KFC team after taking out the national final of the KFC Games.
The competition took place on Sunday, 30 August, with the local team beating seven of the country’s top-performing KFC restaurant teams.
The KFC Games, now in their 39th year, are an annual competition celebrating the skills of KFC teams across Australia.
For KFC Medowie, the competition ended with the biggest prize of all, the title of 2026 KFC Games Champion.
KFC Chief Operating Officer Toby Camilleri said the competition was a chance to recognise the people behind the counter and in the kitchen.
“The KFC Games are a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the talent, dedication and teamwork of our people across the country,” he said.
“We’re incredibly proud of every team member who takes part, from those competing in restaurant heats through to our state champions and national finalists.”
The Medowie team faced off against finalists from KFC Burwood East, KFC Kew, KFC Springfield Parkway, KFC Ascot, KFC Gawler and KFC Glenmore Park at the national final at KFC Maltby Bypass in Victoria.
The competition was about much more than who could serve up the most chicken.
Teams were thrown into a 40-minute challenge, where they had to serve as many customers as possible while preparing a menu of KFC favourites.
These favourites include Zinger Burgers, Original Recipe Chicken, Popcorn Chicken, Nuggets and chips.
Their performance was judged on customer service, cooking, burger building, order packing, speed, accuracy, teamwork and communication.
That meant everything from perfectly breading and frying chicken to building burgers to recipe specifications and packing orders so the chips stayed hot and crispy was under the microscope.
The competition featured finalists selected through regional heats, with the teams representing some of the best performers among KFC’s 45,000 Australian team members.
Camilleri said the experience also gave staff an opportunity to develop their skills and see where a career with KFC could take them.
“For many, the experience also opens their eyes to the opportunities available for a long-term career with KFC.”
