Newcastle City Police are appealing for public assistance after a man was assaulted in Wallsend earlier this year.

Just before midnight on Tuesday 22 September, emergency services were called to Nelson Street Wallsend, following reports a man had been assaulted approximately at the intersection of Tyrell and Nelson Street.

Upon arrival, police located a 57-year-old man with facial injuries.

Police are investigating the incident and are hoping to speak to a man who may be able to assist with their inquiries.

He’s described as being of Aboriginal appearance, between 175cm and 180cm tall, with a skinny build and short goatee.

It’s believed the man left on foot along Nelson Street Wallsend with two other males.

Anyone who may have seen or heard anything suspicious between 10pm and 11:30pm on Tuesday 22 September, or who may have nearby dashcam or CCTV footage is urged to contact Newcastle Police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
