Police have launched an appeal to identify a man who threatened a driver with a meat cleaver in Newcastle earlier in the month.
It’s understood the incident occurred about 7pm on Wednesday 10 December.
A 20-year-old was driving along Railway Street when he stopped at traffic lights at the intersection of Hunter Street.
An unknown male allegedly entered the vehicle and terrorised him with the cleaver before exiting again.
Thankfully, the driver was uninjured.
As inquiries continue, police released CCTV footage of a man, apparently aged in his 20s, who may be able to assist them.
He’s been described as having a fair complexion and wearing a black T-shirt, grey shorts, white shoes and a black cap.
He was also carrying a small dark backpack. Anyone with information in relation to his whereabouts is urged to contact police or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
