Police have caught a man who stole jewellery, personal items and two electric guitars from a Largs residence last week.
Officers from Port Stephens-Hunter Police District launched an investigation on Friday 16 May after a break and enter was reported at a home on Elm Close.
And, they attended a unit complex on Mallee Street, Gateshead, about 7.50pm on Tuesday 20 May, where they arrested a 46-year-old male.
A search of the man allegedly revealed a resealable plastic bag containing 2.74g of methylamphetamine.
They then located two electric guitars, and other items believed to have been stolen, from his vehicle.
Following further inquiries, officers found and secured several items of jewellery, which had allegedly been pawned.
The man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with break and enter house etc steal, two counts of dispose property – theft, and possess prohibited drug.
He was refused bail to appear before Belmont Local Court on Wednesday 21 May.
