Police are investigating the cause of a serious three-vehicle motor accident, which occurred at Jerrys Plains on Wednesday morning.

It is understood a car, a utility and a mobile crane truck were involved in the incident.

The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked to the scene about 7.15am on 20 October by NSW Ambulance.

Local paramedics began treatment of the 45-year-old ute driver, who suffered head injuries after he was ejected from the vehicle.

They then rendezvoused with the chopper and its Critical Care Medical Team at Singleton Hospital.

The gentleman was further stabilised for flight, prior to being airlifted direct to John Hunter Hospital in a serious but stable condition for further treatment.
