A man in his 20s has been taken to hospital with serious leg injuries following a three-vehicle crash at Salt Ash this morning.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter was tasked by NSW Ambulance to the crash on Thursday 23 July to Nelson Bay Road about 10.30am.
The collision involved a small truck, a 4WD and a car.
The man became trapped inside one of the vehicles for some time before being freed by emergency services.
He was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics and the Westpac Rescue Helicopter’s critical care medical team before being transported by road to John Hunter Hospital, accompanied by the helicopter’s medical team.
He remains in a serious but stable condition.
Emergency services responded to the scene, with motorists experiencing delays on Nelson Bay Road while the incident was managed.
