A man was hospitalised when his glider crash-landed in the Upper Hunter on Sunday afternoon.
The Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service (WRHS) was tasked by NSW Ambulance to a location at Ravensworth, about 19 kilometres north of Singleton, at 4.30pm on 28 December.
It’s believed the chopper’s critical care medical team treated the male, in his 60s, for his injuries.
He was then transported to John Hunter Hospital.
The man remains in a serious but stable condition
The incident only occurred a couple of hours after a woman died in a glider crash in Tunbridge in Tasmania’s southern midlands.
Sadly, the female – in her early 50s – succumbed to her injuries at the scene, Tasmania Police confirmed in a statement.
A man in his 60s, who was operating the two-seater craft, was airlifted to Royal Hobart Hospital.
Tasmania Police Inspector Aleena Crack said he and the woman were part of a group, which included the woman’s husband, who were at the private airfield.
“There was a larger group of people at the time… and this is obviously a tragic outcome for these families and friends,” she stated.
Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
Emergency services also assisted a pilot after his hang glider hit the deck near Merewether about 4.30pm on Saturday 27 December.
The man was conveyed to John Hunter Hospital suffering head and spinal injuries.
