Man drowns at Nobbys Beach


A man has died after being found unconscious in the water at Nobbys Beach this morning.

Emergency services were called to the beach just before 8am after they received reports about the incident.

Lifeguards pulled the man from the water and commenced CPR until NSW Ambulance paramedics arrived.

He was then taken to John Hunter Hospital, where he was officially pronounced dead.

The man is yet to be formally identified; however, is believed to be aged in his 60s.

Officers attached to Newcastle City Police District attended and have commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
