Police are investigating the circumstances of a man’s death following a single-vehicle crash in the Upper Hunter at the weekend.
It’s understood a 65-year-old died shortly after being driven to Merriwa Hospital by a family member.
Officers from Hunter Valley Police District attended the medical facility about 4.20pm on Saturday 15 February.
They were then informed the male suffered critical injuries when the 4WD, in which he was a passenger, crashed and rolled on Roma Road, 40km north of the township.
The driver, a 14-year-old girl, was uninjured.
Police were told the area is out of phone reception and the crash was only discovered when a neighbour and a family member drove past.
They took the injured man to hospital.
But, sadly, he died shortly after arrival.
Officers attached to the Crash Investigation Unit have now started an investigation into what occurred.
