A 55-year-old man is set to front court on numerous firearm, knife and driving charges after an incident at Glendale on Tuesday afternoon.
Police were called to Frederick Street about 2.40pm on 28 April following reports of a crash.
At the scene, they received information a utility allegedly collided with the rear of another vehicle, before it drove away to a carpark near Clare Street.
It’s then claimed it crashed into a second vehicle.
No injuries were reported.
A short time after the crash, the driver of the utility allegedly approached a male on Clare Street and threatened him with a large knife.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District then arrested the 55-year-old.
During a search of his vehicle, they located and seized a second knife and an unloaded firearm.
The man was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with eight offences, including:
- Drive recklessly/furiously or speed/manner dangerous
- Custody of knife in public place (two counts)
- Carry knife visible in public place-cause fear for safety
- Possess unauthorised prohibited firearm
- Not keep firearm safely-not pistol/prohibited firearm
- Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence
- Affray
After being refused bail, he’ll appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Wednesday 29 April.
