A man who travelled interstate from Cessnock to abduct another male will face court on alleged kidnapping and domestic violence offences.
It’s claimed a 44-year-old was held against his will, between Sunday 10 August and Sunday 24 August, by a 32-year-old known to him.
Police were told the younger man had been driven from the Coalfields to a home in South Australia.
There, he allegedly assaulted his victim.
Then, on Sunday 24 August, the older male ran from a vehicle while the 32-year-old was asleep after having parked near John Renshaw Drive at Buchanan.
Motorists stopped to assist the man after seeing him exit bushland on the nearby Hunter Expressway.
He was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics before being taken to Maitland Hospital for treatment.
Officers attached to Hunter Valley Police District were notified and began inquiries into the incident.
Following extensive inquiries, members of the Hunter DV High Risk Offender Team – assisted by Hunter Utah, Hunter Valley Police District, and the Dog Unit – attended a property on Seaham Road, Holmesville, about 8.30am on Wednesday 27 August.
During a search, they located the 32-year-old man in long grass at the rear of the land.
He was arrested, taken to Toronto Police Station and charged with contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO; kidnap with intent commit serious indictable offence occasion actual bodily harm (DV); and assault occasioning actual bodily harm (DV).
After formally being refused bail, he’ll front Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 29 October.
A vehicle used in the incident was seized at the Holmesville property, too, and will undergo forensic analysis.
