A man will face court following an investigation into alleged domestic violence (DV) offences in Port Stephens.
Officers attached to Port Stephens-Hunter Police District were called to a motel on the Pacific Highway, at Heatherbrae, about 8pm on Thursday 21 August.
It followed reports of a DV-related incident.
At the scene, they were told a woman’s clothing had allegedly been placed into a bathtub and destroyed by a male known to her.
Officers then began inquiries to locate the male in question.
Following further investigations, police also established the man had intimidated the woman and breached an AVO on several occasions since Monday 11 August.
Members of the Hunter Valley DV High Risk offender team then attended a unit on Port Stephens Drive at Salamander Bay about 10.50am on Thursday 18 September, where they arrested a 42-year-old male.
He was taken to Nelson Bay Police Station and charged with seven offences, including three counts of contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (domestic); two counts of stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (domestic); knowingly contravene 3rd+ time in 28 days AVO (domestic); and destroy or damage property (DV).
After being refused bail, the man will appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Friday 19 September.
