A 39-year-old man has been charged with 42 offences following an investigation into alleged domestic violence, assault, sexual assault and firearm-related incidents in the Hunter Valley.

Officers from the Hunter Valley Police District commenced inquiries on Saturday 25 July after receiving information that a 29-year-old woman had allegedly been physically and sexually assaulted by a man known to her since December 2025.

Police will allege the woman was also assaulted on Wednesday 22 July.

It is further alleged the man shot the woman about 10 times with a gel blaster rifle in June 2025, causing significant bruising to her legs, arms and body.

Following inquiries, police arrested the man at a home on Olney Street, Ellalong, about 2.45pm on Sunday 26 July.

During a search of the property, officers allegedly located and seized multiple child-like sex dolls, cannabis and a range of prohibited weapons.

The items allegedly included firearms, crossbows, a sword, a knife and whips.

The man was taken to Cessnock Police Station and charged with 42 offences.

The charges include stalking or intimidation, common assault, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, firing a firearm in a manner likely to injure a person or damage property, possessing child-like sex dolls and possessing or using prohibited weapons without a permit.

He was also charged with possessing unauthorised firearms, possessing an unauthorised pistol, possessing prohibited drugs, and possessing ammunition without a licence, permit or authority.

The man was refused bail and was due to appear before Bail Division Court 2 on Monday 27 July.
