A man will face court for his role in an alleged armed robbery at a licenced hotel in Clarence Town, which occurred last month.
Emergency services were called to the premises on Grey Street about 6am on Thursday 4 June.
Officers attached to Port Stephens Hunter Police District received information a 52-year-old male had allegedly been assaulted by two men armed with a baseball bat and a firearm.
The pair then left the scene in the staff member’s vehicle with stolen cash.
NSW Ambulance paramedics tended to the 52-year-old before he was taken to the John Hunter Hospital in a serious condition for the treatment of head injuries.
Detectives started an investigation under Strike Force Damina.
Following inquiries, they – with assistance from State Crime Command’s Raptor North – arrested a 38-year-old man at a shopping centre in Green Hills about 6.30pm on Wednesday 1 July.
He was taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station and charged with armed robbery with dangerous weapon.
After being refused bail, he’ll front Bail Divisional Court 2 on Thursday 2 July.
Investigations into the incident are continuing.
