Man charged after historic Lake Mac abduction

A man will face court in March after being charged with offences alleged to have occurred in the Lake Macquarie area in the 1980s.

Strike Force Arapaima was established in April 2019 to re-examine the investigation into the unsolved disappearances – and suspected murders of – three local teens Robyn Hickie, Amanda Robinson and Gordana Kotevski.

As part of those inquiries, information led detectives to arrest a 62-year-old man at a governmental facility at Silverwater on Monday 15 January.

He has now been charged with four offences, forcible abduction of woman with intent to carnally knowledge, threaten injury to person with intent to commit an indictable offence, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, and detain for advantage and cause injury to victim.

The offences are alleged to have occurred in the Gateshead area involving a girl who was aged 16 at the time.

The man is expected to appear at Newcastle Local Court on Wednesday 13 March.

Investigations by Strike Force Arapaima continue.
