A man will face Belmont Local Court after being charged with deliberately setting fire to a house, car and motorcycle in Lake Macquarie overnight.

Emergency services were called to a home on Margaret Street, Warners Bay, about 11pm on Monday 9 June.

Fire and Rescue NSW (FRNSW) attended and found a premises, SUV and a motorcycle well alight.

Crews worked hard to extinguish the blaze.

However, the property suffered extensive damage.

Thankfully, it’s understood no one was in the home at the time.

Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District established a crime scene and started investigations into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Following inquiries, they were called to a service station on Lake Road, Argenton, about 3.05am on Tuesday 10 June and arrested a 47-year-old man at the scene.

He was taken to Belmont Police Station and charged with damage property by fire/explosive greater than $15,000 (DV).

He’s now due to front court on Tuesday 10 June.
