Police have charged a 54-year-old male after he allegedly intimidated a passenger on a bus in Newcastle last week.
It’s claimed a man was travelling on the public transport vehicle along King Street about 12.30pm on Thursday 11 June when another began threatening him.
When he exited the bus on Darby Street, in Cooks Hill, the passenger allegedly continued to abuse and intimidate him.
The incident was reported to Newcastle City Police District on Saturday 13 June and officers started an investigation.
Following extensive inquiries by the Police Transport Command North/Central Team, they attended a unit on Ocean Street, Merewether, about 10.45am on Wednesday 17 June.
The 54-year-old was arrested and taken to Newcastle Police Station.
He was charged with use offensive language in/near public place/school, and stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal).
The man was granted strict conditional bail to appear before Newcastle Local Court on Thursday 16 July.
