A man’s been left shaken after he was assaulted, and his car stolen, during a brazen daylight attack at North Lambton on Wednesday.
Police were called to a home on Acacia Avenue about 11am on 16 August.
They were then informed the resident confronted a male in his premises, before the intruder assaulted him and stole his vehicle, a silver 2010 Holden Commodore sedan.
The 65-year-old North Lambton man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for a laceration to his arm.
A short time later, officers from Newcastle City Police District located the car abandoned on Mayo Street, Jesmond.
They canvassed the area with assistance from PolAir and the Dog Unit.
However, the man was unable to be located.
As inquiries continue, police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
They’ve released a description of a male they believe can assist with inquiries.
He’s described as being of Caucasian appearance, about 180cm tall, of slim build, with black facial hair.
When last seen, the man was wearing a black top with white stripes down the sleeves, blue shorts, with a black cap and red shoes.
Anyone with information, or relevant dashcam footage, is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
