Maitland prepares to host Street Party

SHARE

Locally-brewed beers enjoyed outdoors, crowds spilling out on to the street, tasty hot food and live tunes as the sun goes down – sound tempting?

Well, that’s what is on offer when The Levee returns for Street Party on Sunday 26 February.

The iconic Maitland street is set to be filled with a soundtrack of melodic folk rock, mesmeric jazz, as well as country and western from 4.30pm.

Two local acts – The High Andies and Dave Wells – will bring the tunes, while Aberglasslyn-based microbrewery The Dusty Miner will provide the drinks.

Dave Wells has been busy recording new material he’ll try out on crowds at Street Party.

Hunter-based singer songwriter Wells says he’s excited to play a mix of both old and new material before a local crowd.

“I’ve spent the past few years working on new material, out of a studio in Byron Bay with American producer Nick DiDia,” he says of his latest single Hey Mate

“It’s a real mix of emotive alt rock, and darker, more acoustic tracks that are sonically sparse.

“Working with Nick was a great experience. We took a live, simplistic approach that focused purely on the uniqueness, emotive character and sonic delivery of each song.

“So, get on your dancing shoes and join me and The High Andies for four hours of great tunes during LIVE at The Levee.”

In addition to the music, punters can expect some tasty treats delivered by food trucks serving Vietnamese and American cuisine and gelato and featuring many local eateries opening late to cater to the crowds.

The event will take place at The Levee Shared Zone between Bulwer and Elgin streets.
