Maintenance work targeted for Swansea Bridge

SHARE

There will be changed overnight traffic conditions on the Pacific Highway at Swansea this week to carry out maintenance work on Swansea Bridge.

To minimise the impact on motorists, labour is scheduled to take place from Monday 18 October between 7pm and 5am.

Work will be carried out on the southbound bridge overnight on Monday 18, Tuesday 19 and Wednesday 20 October, and on the northbound bridge on Thursday 21 October, weather permitting.

One bridge will remain open at all times, operating with one lane in each direction while maintenance work is undertaken.

“Labour on the southbound bridge will include testing of emergency procedures, checking of the centre locks and work to the opening spans,” a Transport for NSW spokesperson said.

“Work on the northbound bridge features testing of emergency systems, repairs to the centre locks and barrier upgrades.

“The Swansea Bridge will not be open to marine traffic while work is carried out.

“Traffic control and a reduced speed limit of 40km/h will be in place for the safety of workers and motorists.

“Motorists are advised to drive to the conditions and follow the directions of signs and traffic control.

“We thank everyone for their patience during this time.”
