Macquarie Hills Community Preschool will get a “new lease on life” after securing a much-needed $50,000 windfall.
The educational facility is scheduled to use the funds, thanks to the NSW Government’s $37.2 million Local Small Commitments Allocation Program, to shore up retaining walls on the property.
Macquarie Hills Community Preschool management committee president Tami Hutchison said as the Cardiff South premises aged, restoration works needed to be completed.
“This grant’s going to be used for the replacement of retaining walls,” she explained.
“It will help extend the life of our preschool for many years to come, making it safe for our children, their families and staff.”
The Local Small Commitments Allocation Program was designated to enhance communities and provide $400,000 in benefits to people to each of the 93 NSW electorates.
It will consist of more than 600 projects, ranging from capital works, services and programs, events, supplies and equipment, charitable donations, and playground and park upgrades.
Charlestown MP Jodie Harrison said Macquarie Hills Community Preschool was a beloved part of Cardiff South.
“It offers a welcoming, caring place for children to begin their education journey,” she added.
“This grant will ensure that their premises will continue to be fit for purpose long into the future.”
The NSW Government committed funds to the program, which will help small projects and initiatives that strengthen communities and provide improvements at a local level, making NSW an even better place to live.
