M1 Motorway construction intensifies ahead of Easter weekend

SHARE

Ahead of Easter this weekend, Transport for NSW (TfNSW) crews are busy with construction along the M1 Pacific Motorway extension to Raymond Terrace.

There will also be extended stops (up to 20 minutes) to install signage over the westbound lanes of the New England Highway on Monday 30 March and Tuesday 31 March from 10pm to 4am.

Motorists are asked to plan for delays and take alternative routes where possible.

Other major work continues across the project from 7am to 6pm Monday to Friday; 8am to 5pm on Saturday; and 7pm to 5am Monday to Friday, with the exception of Good Friday and Easter Monday.

It requires lane closures and contraflow with intermittent stoppages and temporary speed reductions to 40km/h at the following locations and times:

From 7pm to 5am on the nights of Monday 30 March until Thursday 2 April:

  • M1 Pacific Motorway at Beresfield and Black Hill
  • John Renshaw Drive at Beresfield
  • New England Highway at Tarro
  • Pacific Highway at Tomago and Heatherbrae

From 7am to 5pm, Monday 30 March until Thursday 2 April:

  • Lenaghans Drive at Black Hill
  • Old Punt Road near Pacific Highway at Tomago
  • New England Highway Eastbound at Tarro

Pacific Highway from Johns River to Raymond Terrace

Routine bridge maintenance is scheduled at multiple locations on the Pacific Highway between Johns River and Raymond Terrace.

TfNSW will spend a short time at each structure on both sides of the dual carriageway before moving to the next location.

Work, between Johns River and Bulahdelah, is being carried out from Monday 30 March from 7am to 4pm, Monday to Thursday.

It’s expected to be completed in five weeks, weather permitting.

No work will occur during the public holidays.

It then resumes between Bulahdelah South and Raymond Terrace from Monday 11 May from 7pm to 4am, Monday to Thursday, over three weeks.

Traffic control including single lane closures and a reduced speed limit of 40 km/h will be in place in the work area for the safety of workers and motorists.

Operators of Over-Size and/or Over-Mass (OSOM) vehicles are advised to call ahead on UHF channel 25 to be escorted through the site.
