Lyn Bowtell: My Favourite Things

SHARE

Nine-time Golden Guitar winner Lyn Bowtell’s musical journey began in the country music clubs of the Darling Downs and has led her to stages all over Australia and around the world.

In 2017, Lyn was a contestant on Channel Nine’s ‘The Voice Australia’, where she turned four red chairs and joined Team George.

Stunning, heartfelt vocals, and beautifully crafted songs… there are few female voices in Australia to rival the class and style of Lyn Bowtell.

Based in the Hunter Valley, she will perform at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre (CPAC)’s Studio Sounds series on Friday 11 December.

MY VINYL

My favourite thing to do on a quiet Sunday, is to pop on an old vinyl record – usually Springsteen, Ella Fitzgerald or James Taylor – and cook something in my kitchen while I hum and sway along. It brings me so much joy.

MY TWO JACK RUSSELLS

Mario (6) and Nina (10) – both rescue dogs from Nova Pooch Rescue and my two little shadows!

There’s nothing like the love you feel for an animal and the unconditional love you receive in return. I always try to be the person my dogs think I am!

ZOOM

I have COVID-19 to thank for finding a way to co-write and stay connected with my mates, during a time when I had no creative outlet due to all our touring being cancelled.

I love it and will continue to use this technology to meet up with songwriters from all around the country.

PERFORMING

The stage has always been my safe place – it might sound counter intuitive but sharing my deepest feelings and singing to a crowd of strangers fills my heart!

I have loved getting back on stage recently after such a break and cannot wait to sing at Cessnock Performing Arts Centre.

MY PARTNER DAMON

COVID-19 has been a difficult time for us all and I know I wouldn’t have been able to survive it without Damon by my side.

He’s my manager, my sound engineer for all my shows, my co-writer and co-conspirator. My world wouldn’t be the same without him in it.
