Novocastrians Steve and Trudie Guttridge are delivering more than just pizza during the COVID-19 pandemic.
As local Domino’s franchisees, the pair are providing frontline workers with piping hot pizzas as well as job opportunities for those out of work.
They are incredibly passionate about is supporting the local community through challenging times.
“We understand that it is a privilege to continue to feed the community during this time and are committed to delivering fresh meals for as long as we are open, and it is safe to do so,” Trudie said.
“We love giving back to the communities in which we operate and as a token of our appreciation have been helping to feed the frontline – delivering meals to those in Newcastle working hard to keep us safe and our society moving.
“In the past few weeks, we donated more than 50 pizzas to local hospitals, clinics and testing facilities to thank all the incredible health care workers for their hard work, courage and sacrifice in these unprecedented times.
“We will only get through this if we continue to work together and look after one another – just as we did during the summer bushfires.
“Over the coming weeks and months, we will continue to feed our community and look for ways in which we can provide support.”
As more and more people follow government advice and stay home, Domino’s is seeing an increase in demand for delivery.
To meet this demand, Steve and Trudie are looking to hire more delivery experts.
For as long as it is safe to do so, their stores at Adamstown, New Lambton and Toronto will remain open for pickup and delivery.
“We recently hired 11 new team members, and in the next few weeks, we’ll be hiring an additional 15 delivery experts across the three stores,” Trudie said.
“We know a lot of people have been stood down or made redundant in recent weeks and we’re hoping they’ll find a home with Domino’s – whether it’s for a short time during this crisis or for a long time.”
