The Newcastle Business Club (NBC) has recognised four outstanding contributors at its Annual Awards earlier this month.
The accolades celebrate individuals and organisations who have made a significant and enduring impact on Newcastle and the Hunter region.
Founded in 1933, the Newcastle Business Club has built a 92-year legacy of building company connections, leadership and growth through its events and networking opportunities.
The 2025 winners included Dr Stephen Spencer from Equi Energy Youth, who received the Individual Award, and the Mai-Wel Group, which took out the organisation honours.
The Youth Award went to Dominic May of CoastXP, while the inaugural Industry Impact Award was presented to PKF Newcastle.
The latter title was newly introduced in partnership with the University of Newcastle’s (UoN) Business School.
It acknowledges organisations which provide meaningful student placements and help the development of the next generation of commercial leaders.
NBC president Matt Taylor said the event highlighted the strength of Newcastle’s business sector and community spirit.
“These awards remind us of the strength, innovation and generosity that exists in our region,” he explained.
“From inspiring youth leaders to established organisations making real impact, we celebrated the people who go above and beyond to strengthen Newcastle’s future.”
NBC’s junior vice-president Stacey Kelly said the diversity of recipients demonstrated the broad influence being made across the community.
“What makes these awards so special is the diversity of contributions we get to acknowledge – from youth-led innovation to community-focused organisations,” she added.
“It’s an honour to celebrate leaders who embody purpose, resilience and collaboration.”
The Annual Awards luncheon is one of NBC’s signature events, as a tradition dating back to 1977.
It aims to shine a light on those whose work contributes to the prosperity and wellbeing of the Hunter community.
