Live music to hit Lake Mac stages next month

Lake Macquarie will welcome a new series of live music events next month in the lead up to the start of summer.

Live Music Lake Mac will feature the sounds of local and NSW-based musicians, aimed at boosting the local night-time economy within a socially distanced and COVIDSafe setting.

Lake Macquarie Mayor Cr Kay Fraser said the series will bring more home-grown talent to the city’s local stages.

“Live music performances play a significant role in Australian cultural life,” she said.

“We love to celebrate as a community and we’re lucky to have lots of incredible local talent and musicians visiting from around the state.

“I know our community will enjoy getting out and about and enjoying live music again.”

Gigs will take place at Rathmines and Warners Bay Theatres from November 2020 to March 2021, kicking off with iconic country music singer and Golden Guitar winner, Shane Nicholson.

The first performance by Shane is part of Great Southern Nights, a new event kickstarting the recovery of the live music industry by bringing 1,000 COVIDSafe gigs to Sydney and Regional NSW across November.

Shane has also received three ARIA awards – most recently for his solo album Hell Breaks Loose in 2015 and for his hit collaborations with Kasey Chambers – Rattlin’ Bones and Wreck and Ruin.

Other artists performing at Live Music Lake Mac include Ash Grunwald, Steve Balbi, Bondi Cigars and 19 Twenty.

Details of each gig can be found at lakemac.com.au/livemusic.
