Leaders Leap launches

SHARE

Twenty people will face their fear of heights when they abseil down McDonald Jones Stadium this August to raise funds for the Westpac Rescue Helicopter Service.

Local leaders from both Newcastle and the Central Coast met at Lake Macquarie Airport last week for the launch of this year’s Leaders Leap.

In 2018, Newcastle Weekly editor Georgia Osland bravely completed the challenge not once, but twice.

This time around, journalist Ben Murphy will join in the action.

Apart from raising much-needed funds, the event is also an opportunity to reflect on the work of the rescue helicopter’s crew, who regularly winch people to safety from the bush, ocean, and hard-to-access locations.

The Leaders Leap will take place from 9am on Friday 9 August. Visit newcastleleap2019.gofundraise.com.au and select a participant if you’d like to donate.

All donations over $2 are tax deductible.
