Organisers are hoping for paw-fect conditions in Lake Macquarie this weekend.
Australia’s biggest doggy day out to help animals in need, the RSPCA NSW Million Paws Walk, will take place at Speers Point on Sunday 26 May from 9.30am until 1.30pm.
It’ll also be a chance to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the popular event.
Since its inception in 1994, the Million Paws Walk has become the nation’s largest and most anticipated dog walking extravaganza, raising vital funds to support the work of RSPCA NSW.
The Hunter Supporter Group will host a delicious BBQ and food stalls, plenty of market stalls, the RSPCA merchandise and retail stand, entertainment, music, dog washing, competitions and raffles with plenty of prizes.
While the tail-waggingly program starts at Speers Point from 9.30am, the walk kicks off at 10.30am.
“We are excited to see the thousands of animal lovers and their canine companions join our Million Paws Walk events across the state to mark three decades of uniting to fight animal cruelty,” RSPCA NSW community fundraising manager Ben Wilheim said.
“For 30 years, it has brought communities and their pets together for a fun day out.
“And, we hope to have a record number of participants join our anniversary celebrations in Lake Macquarie on Sunday.
“There is still time to register for your local walk and put your best foot forward for animals who need a helping hand.”
