Lake Mac grants to splash cash on events

SHARE

Although events and festivals for 2021 may seem a little far-fetched this week, Lake Macquarie City Council is keeping the dream alive, offering another round of their cash splash for ideas that’ll see us gathering together again.

The council will offer $120,000 worth of grants in round two of its 2021/2022 events funding program, set to open on Monday 16 August.

The grants are part of the council’s plan support event organisers and community groups to deliver festivals, sporting celebrations and conferences across the City.

They are also designed to reactivate the community following COVID-19 lockdowns.

Manager arts, culture and tourism Jacqui Hemsley said individual grants of up to $2000 were available for local events and celebrations, up to $10,000 for community events and up to $20,000 for sponsored events and festivals.

“This program aims to fund meaningful, creative, high-quality events for our community and visitors to Lake Macquarie,” she said.

“We will prioritise events that are engaging, surprising and entertaining, that are attractive to visitors and that have potential to inject money into the local economy.”

Council offers funding biannually, in July and December.

The application process is very easy, all online and takes about 30 minutes to complete.

“However the  application process is competitive, and putting together a strong application takes time and energy,” Ms Hemsley said.

“The best bet is to read our funding guidelines carefully and demonstrate how your event will meet our assessment criteria.”

An Information session will be held online Thursday 12 August 3-4pm. Click here to join on the day.

Round two applications close on Friday 24 September.
