Knights boost NRLW playing stocks with dual signings

The Newcastle Knights continue to bolster their NRLW playing stocks ahead of a much-anticipated 2026 season.

Hot on the heels of re-signing two of the club’s most promising youngsters, Sienna Yeo and Raymond-Terrace Roosters junior Lilly-Ann White, coach Ben Jeffries will add ex-Parramatta Eel and Cronulla Shark Nakia Davis-Welsh and Kiwi dual international Cheyelle Robins-Reti to his burgeoning roster.

For Davis-Walsh, it’s a homecoming of sorts.

She boasts a wealth of playing and life experience, having attended Hunter Sports High in her teenage years, before embarking on a highly-successful rugby league career.

Jeffries believes her influence on the younger generation will be one of the many benefits of securing her signature.

“Nakia is a highly-decorated representative player, via the All-Stars, NSW Origin and Jillaroos,” he said.

“We’re looking forward to her guidance and competitive influence to help nurture the next wave of youngsters through our NRLW programs.

“Having coached Nakia previously, I’ve witnessed the team-first attitude she brings.

“When you add her football versatility and desire to compete, it was an easy decision to bring her back her grassroots.

“I can’t wait to see her in Knights colours again.”

Robins-Reti joins Newcastle with more than 25 Kiwi Ferns and Black Ferns Rugby caps, along with 28 NRLW appearances, since making her debut in 2023.

Jeffries is equally-delighted about her decision to link up with the Knights.

“We are thrilled Chey will be joining us for the next two seasons,” he said.

“Having been a teammate with several of our players before, we expect her transition to be smooth and her impact significant.

“With speed and power, and the ability to play any position in the backline, Chey will fast become a vital member to our squad.

“I’m keen to witness her in the red and blue in 2026… and beyond.”
