The Greater Northern Tigers junior sides continued their Country Championships seasons with a vital training session at Farrer Memorial Agricultural High School on Friday evening.
The under-16s and under-18s play third round matches in their Andrew Johns Cup and Laurie Daley Cup competitions against the Northern River Titans at Armidale Rugby League Park on Saturday 20 February.
The Brett Jarrett-coached Greater Northern 16s begin their quest for a maiden win with an 11am kick-off against the Titans while the Darryl Rando-mentored 18s are timed for a 12.20pm start.
Both Tigers’ outfits are coming off last match losses to the strong Central Coast Roosters in Wyong last weekend.
But, Greater Northern Tigers pathways manager Peter Stevens expects the two sides to be much better in Armidale.
“The weather didn’t help us (at Wyong),” he said of a wet and rainy day.
“The other teams (Roosters) adapted better as well.
“We have to improve, especially the 16s but I believe they can only improve.
“If we do that, I think we are good chances in both games.”
Northern Rivers are in a similar position as the Tigers with their 18s winning one of their two opening rounds and their 16s losing both games.
