Jets star Rose to blossom in Scottish Premiership

The success of the Newcastle Jets in 2025/26 will cost them fan favourite Lachlan Rose after the current A-League Men’s (ALM) season wraps up.

It’s been confirmed the 26-year-old striker is set to join Scottish Premiership side Dundee United when the team’s campaign ends.

Currently, Mark Milligan’s squad sits atop the ladder with five rounds remaining before the play-offs.

So, Rose’s impending departure could spur Newcastle on to claim the Premiers Plate.

Jets’ general manager of football Nigel Boogaard wished the gifted forward “all the best” with the next chapter of his career.

“While we are disappointed to lose Lachie, we are delighted for him that he has earned this opportunity to test himself in Europe,” he said.

“He’s embraced everything we value as a club, worked hard to develop his game and been a consistent contributor within the squad.

“His progression is a credit to his mindset and the environment that’s nurtured him here.

“Opportunities like this are what we want for our players… and Lachie has put himself in this position through his work and commitment.”

Rose joined Newcastle from ALM rivals Macarthur FC in 2024.

All up, he’s scored 16 goals in 39 matches for the Jets.

In 2025/26, he helped the organisation win its first Australia Cup, in October, and has found the back of the net eight times to lead the Golden Boot race.

But, for now, his focus remains solely on Newcastle’s charge to glory, with several all-important clashes ahead.

Following a thrilling 2-1 loss to Auckland FC at the weekend, the Jets tackle Sydney FC (away – Sunday 22 March), Macarthur FC (away – Thursday 2 April), Adelaide United (home – Saturday 11 April), Melbourne Victory (away – Friday 17 April) and F3 Derby combatants Central Coast Mariners (home – Saturday 25 April).
