Jets duo soar into Young Socceroos camp

SHARE

Two of the Newcastle Jets’ brightest prospects are on the path to greater representative honours after catching the eye of Young Socceroos mentor Trevor Morgan.

Cooks Hill United FC product Archie Goodwin, who enjoyed a breakout A-League Men’s season in 2021-22, and Peter Grozos have been called up for a talent identification camp at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.

The pair will join team mates, including Central Coast Mariners trio Lawrence Caruso, Garang Kuol and Nectarios Triantis, from Monday 8 August through to Thursday 11 August.

They’ll also take part in match, which will be streamed on Football Australia’s My Football YouTube channel from 3pm on Wednesday 10 August.

“The camp will enable me to assess some of Australia’s best young talent in the flesh for the first time since being appointed head coach of the under-20 national men’s team,” Morgan said.

“Socceroos’ great Tony Vidmar will also be on hand to monitor the group – some of whom may challenge for under-23 selection in the future.”
