In a promising sign for the club’s future, the Newcastle Jets recently dominated the Football NSW (FNSW) annual awards ceremony.
While the organisation claimed the prestigious Club Championship for 2024, highly-respected mentor Damian Zane walked away with the FNSW League 2 Men’s Coach of the Year plaudits.
Fresh from signing a two-season scholarship deal with Newcastle, highly-talented local Ben van Dorssen was named the FNSW League 2 Men’s Player of the Year.
Teammate Zac Bowling, who also inked a similar contract, collected Goalkeeper of the Year.
Ruby Jones cleaned up the U20/reserve grade Golden Boot and Player of the Year honours for the Emerging Jets while William Eick secured the FNSW League 2 Men’s U20 Player for the Year with Kurtis White receiving the Golden Boot award.
Newcastle general manager football Ken Schembri admitted it was a fantastic achievement.
“Winning awards in male and female football was sensational,” he said.
“Well done to everyone who walked away with a trophy.
“But, recognition and congratulations must go to Damian for our outstanding season, which resulted from his leadership, vision and passion.
“The platform has been laid by him and his staff.
“It augurs well for the Jets in season 2025 in League One Men’s under his guidance.”
