Islington woman eyes early retirement after $200,000 windfall

Retirement can’t come soon enough for an Islington woman after winning $200,000 in a recent Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot.

The elated Novocastrian was completely unaware of her newfound bounty until officials from The Lott revealed the news over a phone call.

As a result, she picked up the guaranteed first prize in the Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot, drawn on Monday 11 March.

“Oh, my heavens! Thank you very much,” she cheered.

“That is amazing news.

“$200,000… wow – that’s pretty special.

“I’m at retirement age but I’ve had to keep working.

“This might just be the trigger to finally let me retire.

“Thank you. You’ve completely made my day.

“The most I’ve ever won was $800, however that was years ago now.

“You must have the best job in the world breaking such amazing news to people like me… how wonderful.

“I can’t wait to tell my friends so we can celebrate.”

Her entry of one random number was purchased via The Lott app.

The Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot prize is now $14.44 million for draw 1653, while the Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot prize is now $500,000 for draw 10842.

In 2023, 117 Lucky Lotteries first prize and Jackpot winning entries across Australia won more than $20.6 million.

Lucky Lotteries Super Jackpot and Lucky Lotteries Mega Jackpot are raffle-style games, which means there is a set number of tickets in each draw.

As each ticket number is unique there is no sharing of prizes.

Each game has two draws – one that determines the winning numbers and one that decides the jackpot number.

If the jackpot number matches one of the winning numbers, then the prize is won.

If it doesn’t match one of the winning numbers, it then climbs for the next draw.
