Is your Chinese zodiac destined for a lottery win?

2022 may be the Year of the Tiger, but Aussies born in the Year of the Pig enjoyed the most division one wins in 2021, according to new data from The Lott.

Ahead of this weekend’s $20 Million Superdraw Saturday, The Lott found in the 12 months ending 31 December, Aussies born in the Year of the Pig made up 11.65% of all major prize winners.

The Pig is the 12th and final zodiac animal, and is the sign for those born in 1935, 1947, 1959, 1971, 1983 and 1995.

Those born in the Year of the Pig are said to be generous, honest, wealthy and, at times, self-indulgent.

Those born in the Year of the Horse enjoyed the second most division one wins last year (10.53%).

The Horse represents power, freedom, enthusiasm and independence, and is the sign for those born in 1942, 1954, 1966, 1978, 1990 and 2002.

Those born in the Year of the Rooster enjoyed the third most division one wins in 2021 (9.77%).

The year of the Rooster includes 1921, 1933, 1945, 1957, 1969, 1981 and 1993.

Roosters are said to be hardworking, punctual, ambitious and accomplished.

Players born in the year of the Rabbit, Monkey or Dragon might be hoping for a shift in their fortunes, as those Chinese zodiacs scored the least amount of division one wins in 2021.

The Lott spokesperson Ally Ramsamy said only time would tell if those born in the Year of the Pig would continue their winning streak in 2022.

“Not only did players born in the Year of the Pig score the most division one wins in 2021, but they also did so in 2020,” she explained.

“It’s been a very successful two years for players with this Chinese zodiac sign.

“However, we may see a change of fortune this year, as we start the third year of the 12-year cycle – the Year of the Tiger.

“The Chinese zodiac sign Tiger is a symbol of strength, power, confidence and good fortune, which certainly sounds promising for this bunch.

“Perhaps we’ll see the start of any winning trends for 2022 in this weekend with Lotto’s $20 million Superdraw.

“For anyone buying an entry into the weekend’s draw, we recommend registering your entry to a player card or online account and making sure your contact details are up to date.

“This means your prize is secure and we can call you with the amazing news if you win division one.

“Players often tell us they are superstitious about where, when and how they buy their tickets.

“But, whatever your Chinese zodiac sign is, it’s important to remember that lotteries are entertaining games of chance and every number on your ticket has an equal chance of being drawn, no matter when you were born.

“Regardless of your Chinese zodiac, sharing a slice of the $20 million division one prize pool would certainly make this Year of the Tiger the most memorable.”
