An investigation is underway into the circumstances surrounding the death of a man who was found critically injured at a home in Gateshead overnight.
Emergency services were called to the home on Mahogany Crescent shortly after 11pm on Thursday 9 January.
There, they found a male critically injured.
The man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
But, sadly, he died at the scene.
He is yet to be formally identified but is believed to be aged in his 30s.
Officers attached to Lake Macquarie Police District have established a crime scene and are now investigating the circumstances of how the man came to be injured.
They are speaking with a number of people and a canvass of the area will also be conducted.
