Investigation launched into suspicious Lambton house fire


Investigators are appealing for public information after a house was destroyed following a suspicious fire at Newcastle overnight.

About 11.45pm on Thursday 30 March, emergency services were called to a home on Lambton Street, Lambton.

Fire and Rescue NSW crews attended and extinguished the blaze.

However, the premises was destroyed while two neighbouring properties received partial damage.

The property was vacant at the time and neighbouring residents were safely evacuated with no reports of injuries.

Officers from Newcastle City Police District established a crime scene and began an investigation into the cause of the fire, which is being treated as suspicious.
