Hunter police are appealing for information as part of an investigation into an attempted carjacking at Hamilton overnight.
About 10.10pm on Thursday 4 January, a woman and her passenger stopped their Nissan Qashqai at a red light at the intersection of Beaumont and Donald streets.
There, they were approached by an unknown male.
Police have been told the man opened the driver’s side door, grabbed the woman by the arm and demanded she exit the vehicle.
Thankfully, his actions were interrupted.
A separate vehicle approached from behind and the man fled the scene on foot.
The driver then attended Waratah Police Station a short time later to report the incident.
No physical injuries were reported by the driver or passenger.
Now, as part of the ongoing investigation, police have released the description of a man seen in the area at the time of the incident.
He’s described as being about 170cm tall, with thick dark curly hair.
He was seen wearing a red hooded jumper and red face covering, with shorts and joggers.
As inquiries continue, police are appealing for anyone who might have seen the incident to come forward.
They can contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au
